New Sponsors-Hooker Harness- The Dahl Family |
Exciting News... We Have an Engine! AirISU has recently been generously gifted a Jabiru 3300 aircraft engine, propeller, cowling, etc.. The firewall forward kit was donated to the club by Mrs. Dahl from Boone, Iowa. The donation of this engine has given us much hope for the future of this aircraft. The members of AirISU would like to thank Mrs. Dahl for her contribution to our club and allowing us to carry on our hope of one day flying this plane!
Thank You!

Current Word from the President: November 18, 2009 Hello, My name is Scott Hamilton and I am the current president of AirISU. This past semester has had many up's and downs. The ups would be the current progress being made to the fuselage and the very generous gift of the firewall forward kit from Mrs. Dahl. But on the negative side, as some of you may have heard, that there has been a few issues with the Zenith Zodiac 601XL in the past few months. These issues are being looked at more closely and hopefully will not effect our schedule to badly. Though it is quite possible that the plane will need to have modifications done to it in order for it to be granted an airworthiness certificate by the FAA. We really appreciate everyone who is our current sponsors on the project for all their efforts. We also would like to thank Wayne Bausch for helping us towards our goal. Thank you all for your intrest in our project and be sure to take a look at our recent progress in the construction logs section of the webpage. Thanks again and hope you al have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

--------------------------------------------------------------- Revised Schedule for completion: We are still on schedule for the plane to be up and running in Spring of 2010. This all depends on proper funding and a healthy student membership. The coming year looks to bring in a larger group of incoming freshmen and also to bring back almost all of the current members. We look forward to hearing any and all off your opinions or questions about the project. Please contact us at: airisu.mail@gmail.com Thanks for looking! --------------------------------------------------------------- Feb 12th, 2009: AirISU made the five-hour trip down to Mexico, MO on February 12th to pick up the last few pieces left for the kit. We were pleasantly surprised to be able to personally meet Sebastian Heinz of Zenith and get demo rides in their own Zodiac ch601. It was a very exciting experience and we would like to thank Zenith Aircraft Company again for being such a wonderful sponsor and allowing us to experience the Zodiac firsthand. Also we are looking forward to finishing the riviting of the right wing and getting started on the left wing. The fuselage is coming along also as seen in our construction logs. We soon hope to have the fuselage on its landing gear and looking more and more like a plane. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Thank You Hooker Harness!

The AirISU Team In 2004, AirISU was founded by John Anastos and Nathan See as a non-profit student organization with the purpose to design, build, and fly a light sport aircraft. AirISU grew rapidly and the designs quickly started to come together. After a short time, the club decided to shift its primary efforts to building a kit plane...(More Info) ----------------------------------------------------------------
Zenith Aircraft Company (www.zenithair.com), based in Mexico, Missouri, has courteously donated a Zenith CH 601. The Light Sport Aircraft, designed by Chris Heintz, includes the shell and structure, which we have begun to construct. (More Info)
